Sober Summer Fun

Ideas for Sober Dates

What are some great summer activities that you can do without involving alcohol or drugs? I wanted to share a few ideas with you with links to products to help you accomplish them. Get out there and enjoy!!
Let’s start with the basics – How about a picnic?

Outdoor Games are always fun for the warm weather. There are so many options, some classics and some new ideas. Whatever you decide to do it’s people time, fun and relaxing. I think getting together is always easier in the summer when the weather allows for outdoor time.

Grab your friends and start your own tournaments! I don’t know about about you but our picnics have had some pretty intense crochet games. Sending someone flying away is always fun. We are pretty competitive.

There’s also hiking for those that are more adventurous. Or for those less adventurous there are gardens and paths to walk on. Either way it’s great to get out into nature to enjoy all the magical things that our earth provides. You could go on your own, with a friend or with a group. Where you go will determine what you need but there are some basics.

We have to include a day at the beach! Whether your beach is on a lake or an ocean, the sound of the water is so relaxing. Even walks on the beach, day or night, are calming for me.
This is my idea of perfect, put this chair at the waters edge and close your eyes while the waves wash over your feet.

What a great way to remember your day and the peace it brought.

Well some days just aren’t outdoor days even if it’s warm. So on those days when you don’t feel like cleaning or doing wash there has to be something to do inside. Have you ever been in a book club? Take turns picking books and you’ll read things you might never have picked up. Books you can get from the library, why spend money you don’t need to. You can also turn to crafts. The choices here are endless. Sewing, painting, knitting, collages, coloring, building, candle making, strig art …so many options.

And of course there is gardening. Gardening comes with summer. Have you grown your own veggies? Picking them fresh from your own yard or balcony, either in a container or in the ground. Then there are the beautiful flowers that grow when the weather gets warm. So much satisfaction in growing something. Try it and see for yourself.

If you don’t have a green thumb there is always this option

There is so much more you can do int he warmer months. So many things that don’t need anything to be bought. There are community events somewhere every weekend, Movies and Concerts in local parks, Carnivals, Ice Cream at Farms, making s’mores in your own yard with friends around a fire. Come up with a few ideas and comment below. Have a great sober summer
