Sunflowers

Sunflowers. They seem to bring a smile to everyone’s face. They are a very cheery flower that can brighten everyone’s day. Seeing a huge field of them only makes it that much more uplifting. When you admire them you think of the beautiful photo I took, front facing, bright yellow, sun shining, everything that’s makes a perfect day, a perfect view.

The following definition comes from the “Pro-Flowers” Website – No flower can lift someone’s spirits quite like sunflowers. They are bright and cheery, and as warm and inviting as the sweet summer sun. With brilliant yellow petals, also known as “rays,” sunflowers have an unmistakable sun-like appearance that has made them a crowd favorite, especially in the summer months. Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself. These flowers are unique in that they have the ability to provide energy in the form of nourishment and vibrancy—attributes which mirror the sun and the energy provided by its heat and light.

How could anyone dislike a sunflowers? But there are many other sides or angles of a sunflowers that you don’t normally notice. Maybe they aren’t as cheery, colorful or beautiful but they are still a sunflower. They look a little different but you know they are still sunflowers. They might not be as “normal” as your imagination thinks of sunflowers.

Just like when we see the people around us, we know that they are people but some make us laugh, some make us cry, some are a comfort in times of need, some cause great anxiety, some plant gardens of sunflowers making every day special and bright. None of them are the same but they are all people, they aren’t called another name, they are just people. I have heard people say that person is an addict as if that dismisses them to a lower level. Did you ever think that that “Addict” is someone’s son, daughter, mother, father, spouse, cousin or friend? Always remember that they are a person just like you and I are. Just like the sunflowers has different angles or views so do people but it doesn’t ever make them any less of a person.

I want to be like a sunflower so that even on my darkest days I can stand tall and find the sunshine
