Summertime

I love Summer. I don’t know how you feel but I love the hot weather. It makes you move slowly and appreciate things more. Spring and Fall are wonderful too but I definitely can do without Winter.

July 4th is coming up and we celebrate by having a family picnic at my Aunt’s farm. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. There have been years with tons of people and years when it was smaller. No matter the size it’s enjoyable.

When the kids were younger there was fishing, hayrides, volleyball, kickball, peanut scrambles just a lot of fun times. Now we have another generation coming up that will meet the new calf’s in the barn, find barn cats and kittens, go fishing in the pond with their Mickey Mouse fishing poles and learn about family time. They will see cousins and Aunts & Uncles that they don’t see often. They will build traditions to carry with them the rest of their lives. But most importantly they will learn how much family means, to take advantage of each and every moment for time goes by too quickly. Memories will be made, pictures taken, silly games played, BBQing done and a meal with those we love laughing and talking, catching up and making new memories. I always take a lot of pictures which makes the memories seem alive.

This year I will have my mother, my youngest daughter, her boyfriend, my granddaughter, my Son, his fiance, her son, my other granddaughter and my husband traveling with us to the picnic. Last year I missed the picnic because I had just lost my father. I just wasn’t up to the festivities so I stayed home with just my children and husband. This year I’m excited to share the holiday with them all but just wish my other daughter and grandson could have been here too. Living 1200 miles away is a little hard for a weekend trip.

I hope that everyone reading this is able to spend the holiday with someone you love, someone who understands you and someone that that you can make wonderful memories with!
